Ultrasound testing is based on the mutual interaction between ultrasound waves and the tested object. The propagation of the ultrasound waves depends on the material and the surface shape of the object. If there is no reflector, such as a discontinuity in the material, in the path of the wave beam then the screen displays the transmitting pulse – the bottom echo. If there is a material discontinuity, then the beam is reflected and the echo of the discontinuity is also displayed. All our testing is based on KRAUTKRAMER USM 35XS and USM GO ultrasound flaw detectors.
We also perform wall thickness measurements, either with the point method or in combination with the B-scan method, which is based on scanning the wall thickness combined with a graphical coloration of the material section. The equipment we use allows us to perform the measurements without removing the protective paint topcoats or the laminar crust.
We use thickness gauges by PANAMETRICS-NDT, type 37DLplus, and KRAUTKRAMER, type DMS 2.
